The Palmetto Development Group has been exploring for over ten years ways to promote  economic development in South Carolina’s distressed areas.

In recent years, as public opinion began to focus more intently on persistent poverty along the I-95 Corridor (the so called “Corridor of  Shame”), PDG concluded that if the State was to  significantly improve  its competitiveness, persistent poverty in those counties along the I-95 Corridor must be eradicated.

Consequently, PDG committed to develop and implement a Strategic Framework designed to  significantly reduce persistent poverty in South Carolina in counties along the I-95 Corridor.
